Guess a Quote (10.22.13)

Question MarkLast week’s quote drew a guess from one intrepid commenter. She nailed it. CJ said the quote came from The Sign of the Beaver, and she was right. I’m not sure what’s up with the new cover for the book. I liked the old one a lot better. But don’t let yourself be put off by it. The book is really good. 🙂

Here’s this week’s quote. And this quote is such a well love one that you all better get it. 😉

One word. All you’ve been saying is quite right, I shouldn’t wonder. I’m a chap who always liked to know the worst and then put the best face I can on it. So I won’t deny any of what you said. But there’s one more thing to be said, even so. Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things-trees and grass and sun and moon and stars and [Him] himself. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in that case, the made-up things seem a good deal more important than the real ones.

Happy Guessing!

P.S. Please don’t include character names in your comments. It makes it hard to remove all the clues from your comment. Thanks!

February Theme: Christian Non-Fiction

CalendarHi there! Because everyone seems to be enjoying the monthly book review themes, I’ve decided to stick to that pattern for at least a little while. This month is going to be Christian Non-Fiction. Securing author interviews for this has proved challenging, so I may post quotes from the books on Wednesdays, share some poems I have backlogged or think of something else to do. Any ideas for what you would like to see on Wednesdays?

So, here is the schedule for the month:
Feb 1–When God Writes Your Life Story, by Eric and Leslie Ludy
Feb 8–Before You Meet Prince Charming, by Sarah Mally
Feb 15–Shadow of the Almighty, by Elisabeth Elliot
AND Through Gates of Splendor book giveaway
Feb 22–Will Our Generation Speak?, by Grace Mally

It was hard to pick just four books. What do you think of the selection? And the giveaway. 😉 Speaking of giveaways, as requested, I’ll be giving away a copy of The Scarlet Pimpernel in March. Something to look forward too.

Spring Forth

I love the blooming flowers and budding trees that are a sign of spring. This past week I came across a Bible verse that is both beautiful and fitting for this time of year.

Isaiah 61:11
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
