Guess a Quote (4.08.13)

Question Mark Last week’s quote has been giving my brother and I some good laughs as we quoted it to each other over the week. Three readers guessed the book correctly. The quote came from The Icebound Land, book three in The Ranger’s Apprentice series. Happy, OnionTea and Kiri Liz all got the right title and series. Great job!

Now for this week’s quote. I’m going to pull one from a very popular book and see how many of you are fans of said book.

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.

Which book is this from? If your own favorite quotes from the book, feel free to leave them in the comments. Just please only mention the title, author and/or series once. Happy guessing!

    The Lord of the Rings!

  2. Return of the King! Or Faramir, so I’m guessing RotK. Faramir’s my favorite next to Sam – and if I’m not mistaken, he was one of the Professor’s favorite characters too – or at least the one modeled closely after himself 🙂

  4. I have not read these books in too long so I couldn’t guess & had to look it up. 😦 I gotta make time & read ’em again soon.

    • I haven’t read them since Dad read them out loud to use when I was around twelve. One of these days I’ll re-read them too.

  5. Wow, I should NOT have had to look that quote up!! I guess I need to read The Two Towers (and the other books) again too. Somehow I’ve gotten more familiar with The Lord of the Rings movies than with the books…’tis the sad truth.
